Plumbing time tracking that works below ground

Plumbers spend their day where phones struggle: basements, crawl spaces, the lower floors of buildings going up. GEOTT accepts the clock-in there anyway, checks it against the job's geofence, and turns a week of rough-ins and remodels into hours per job that you can hold up against the bid.

$7 per active worker a month · 15-day trial, no card · clock-ins saved without signal

On a remodel the clock-in happens at the front door; what follows under the sink isn't recorded.

What makes time tracking hard for plumbing contractors?

Three things: crews split between several projects in the same week, work below grade where phones lose signal, and apprentices whose hours need checking before they're paid. A paper sheet hides all three. GEOTT records each punch on the job it belongs to, even without coverage, and every change to an entry keeps who made it and why.

Common gaps, and how GEOTT closes them
What happens todayWhat GEOTT does
A journeyman covers two projects a day; the sheet shows oneSite change between jobs, hours split automatically
Basement rough-in, no bars, "I'll write it later"The clock-in is saved on the phone and sent when signal returns
An apprentice forgets to clock outThe session closes on its own, flagged, instead of running overnight
A missed punch gets added on Friday with no traceRecovered punches need a manager's approval and stay in the change log

How do plumbing crews use GEOTT day to day?

Each project you know in advance becomes a site: a new build, a commercial tenant fit-out, a remodel that lasts a week, a building on a service contract. The plumber taps once on arrival, at the gate or the front door. GEOTT reads the position at that moment only and checks it against the site's circle.

  1. Create the job

Address, pin on the map, suggested radius. An admin standing on a new job can create it with "I'm here".

  2. Assign the crew

Only the plumbers assigned to a job see it in their list, so nobody clocks in on the wrong project.

  3. Clock in at the door

One tap. The screen says valid, outside the area, or saved on the phone without signal.

  4. Move to the next job

A site change checks the next job's geofence and splits the day without a second clock-in.

  5. Review the flags

Out-of-area punches and missed punches arrive with the reason in plain words. Approve, reject or correct.

  6. Hours per job

The by-project export gives the hours every job took, the figure to compare with the estimate.

What does a plumbing crew's week look like in GEOTT?

A sample week with invented projects: a journeyman and an apprentice, four jobs, one of them below grade with no signal. GEOTT ends the week with 80 hours split across four jobs, the basement entries synced with their original times, and one recovered punch waiting for approval.

On an iPhone, entries saved underground upload the next time the worker opens GEOTT with signal. Nothing has to be retyped. More on offline clock-in.

Does GPS work in basements and crawl spaces?

Poorly, and GEOTT doesn't pretend otherwise. GPS.gov lists indoor and underground use among the causes of weaker accuracy; under open sky phones are typically within 4.9 m (16 ft). The practical answer: clock in at street level, then go down. The circle covers the lot, not the trench.

If honest punches keep landing outside, GEOTT tells you after the first week so you can widen the circle. See geofence time tracking.

How much does GEOTT cost for a plumbing company?

$7 a month for each worker who clocked in that month. Six plumbers and apprentices cost $42 in a full month; estimators and office staff who never clock in are free. There is no base fee, no per-job charge and no hardware, and the 15-day trial needs no card.

Plumbing questions

What is the best time clock app for plumbers?

One that accepts a clock-in with no signal, ties it to the right job and lets a crew move between jobs without double entries. GEOTT does those for $7 per active worker a month. It is a time clock only: estimates, invoices and parts stay in your other tools.

How do I check an apprentice's hours?

The weekly view shows expected hours, worked hours and the difference for each person. Tap a day to see the punches, the map and how the hours were counted. A recovered punch only counts after a manager approves it, and every change stays in the change log.

Is the plumber tracked between jobs?

No. GEOTT reads the phone's position only at clock-in, site change and clock-out. The drive between jobs and the time under the sink aren't recorded, and each worker can see what GEOTT keeps about them on a dedicated screen.

What if a plumber doesn't want to use a personal phone?

A manager can enter or correct that person's hours, with a mandatory reason kept in the change log. Some states have rules on personal devices, such as Maine since July 2026: read is GPS tracking of employees legal?

Which other crews use GEOTT?

Any company whose people start the day on a job site instead of in an office. Each page takes one trade, its typical day and the radius that fits its sites.

How do I test GEOTT with my plumbing crew?

Pick the job with the worst signal, create it in about 2 minutes and send the link to the crew working there. After a week, check that every punch arrived with its original time. The trial lasts 15 days and needs no credit card.
