Painting contractors interiors · exteriors · crews shuffled by weather
A painting company estimates by the hour and lives or dies by how close the job comes in. When it rains, exterior crews move to an interior; when an interior waits on drywall, they move again. GEOTT ties every clock-in to the job's geofence and adds up the real hours per job, so the next estimate starts from facts.
$7 per active worker a month · 15-day trial, no card · nothing to install from an app store

Because the hours that actually went into a job are rarely recorded where they happened. Crews move between jobs with the weather, painters help on another crew for an afternoon, and a timesheet filled in on Friday shows a rough split. GEOTT records each move at the moment it happens, on the job's geofence.
| Where it drifts | What GEOTT records |
|---|---|
| Rain moves the crew from an exterior to an interior | A site change, checked on the interior job's circle |
| Two painters lend a hand on another crew's job | Their hours on that job, split at clock-out |
| Touch-up visits weeks later | Punches on the same job, still open until you close it |
| Morning paint-store run counted on the job | Nothing until the painter is inside the job's circle |
Export the month by project from GEOTT and put it next to your estimates. Below is a sample month with invented jobs for a company of 7 painters: two jobs came in over, two under. GEOTT supplies the actual hours; the estimate column is yours, typed into the spreadsheet.
| Job (sample) | Estimated hours | Actual hours in GEOTT | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colonial house, full exterior | 160 | 182 | +22 |
| Dental office, interior repaint | 90 | 84 | −6 |
| Restaurant, interior and trim | 120 | 136 | +16 |
| Townhomes, 4 exteriors | 400 | 388 | −12 |
| Touch-ups on past jobs | — | 18 | — |
GEOTT doesn't estimate or invoice; it gives you hours you can trust. The four exports are listed on the features page.
Very little: tap to clock in on arrival, tap to change job when the crew moves, tap to clock out. Each tap reads the phone's position once, nothing in between. Painters see on screen whether the punch was valid, and they can open a page that shows exactly what GEOTT records about them.

Each worker picks the interface language: English, Spanish, French, German or Italian.
Start and end a break with one tap, or let an automatic break apply after the hours you set.
A nudge at start time for anyone who hasn't clocked in yet, and one at the end of the day for anyone still on the clock.
Exteriors get good readings under open sky, typically within 4.9 m (16 ft) per GPS.gov. Interiors are weaker, so ask painters to clock in at the entrance and give the circle extra room. In a high-rise, the circle covers the building footprint, not a floor.
More on sizing: geofence time tracking.
| Job | Suggested radius |
|---|---|
| House exterior | 50 m (about 165 ft) |
| Office or store interior | 80 m (about 260 ft) |
| Apartment building or high-rise | 120 m (about 395 ft) |
| Townhome community | 250 m (about 820 ft) |
$7 per painter who clocked in that month: 7 painters cost $49. A slow winter with three painters on interiors costs $21. No base fee, no per-job charge, no annual plan, and the estimator in the office is free.
How it's counted: GEOTT pricing.
Painting contractor questions
One that records actual hours per job, even when crews move with the weather, so you can compare them with your estimates. GEOTT does that for $7 per active worker, works without an app store and can be tested for 15 days without a card.
It gives you the actual hours per job in the by-project Excel export. Add your estimate in the next column and the jobs that ran over stand out. GEOTT doesn't store estimates or prices itself.
They request a recovered punch from the app with the time and a reason. It becomes hours only after a manager approves it, with the hours rules applied, and it stays marked as recovered in the change log.
It depends on the state. GEOTT reads the position only at the punch, and each painter confirms a notice before the first one. Before rollout, read is GPS tracking of employees legal?
